Authenticity, Attribution & Collectibles Notice
Orient Art & Antiques specializes in vintage, antique, collectible, and pre-owned items.
We examine and describe products to the best of our reasonable knowledge and ability.
Marks and Signatures
Where an item displays:
- a hallmark;
- signature;
- manufacturer's mark;
- artist's mark;
- maker's mark;
- label;
- inscription;
- stamp;
- serial number; or
- other identifying feature,
we may photograph and describe that feature.
Attribution
Unless we expressly state that an item has been independently authenticated by an identified expert, manufacturer, archive, laboratory or authentication organization, descriptions concerning attribution represent our good-faith assessment based on available information and examination of the item.
Expressions such as:
- attributed to;
- believed to be;
- possibly;
- probably;
- circa;
- in the style of;
- in the manner of; or
- school of
indicate that the relevant attribution contains uncertainty.
Precious Metals and Gemstones
Where jewelry or another object is described as containing a particular metal or gemstone, the description may be based on:
- visible hallmarks;
- available documentation;
- testing;
- professional examination;
- previous provenance information; or
- other reasonable evidence.
Where testing or independent certification has been performed, we may state this in the individual product listing.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, a product description should not be interpreted as an independent laboratory certificate or professional appraisal.
Mandatory Consumer Rights
Nothing in this notice limits rights available under applicable law if an item is counterfeit, materially misdescribed, or otherwise fails to conform to the contract.
